Chijioke Edeoga, the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, has rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), signaling a major shift in Enugu’s political dynamics.
Edeoga, who left the PDP after its primary election to contest under the LP, ran a competitive race against PDP candidate Peter Mbah, now the governor.
Speaking at a formal ceremony at the PDP State Office in Enugu, Edeoga described his return as a “paradigm shift” and praised Governor Mbah for his role in making it possible.
“I am happy to be here,” he said. “By this gesture, he has demonstrated an elevated mental state that is worthy of appreciation, and worthy of being supported or rewarded to the extent that is humanly possible.”
Acknowledging mixed reactions from his supporters, Edeoga reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the PDP.
“I have decided to dedicate myself again to the PDP to ensure that the party becomes a winning machine in Enugu State,” he stated.
His return marks a significant political realignment that could reshape the opposition’s influence in the state.
