PDP Denounce False Claim of Egwu Replacing Odefa as Southeast Vice Chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly refuted claims that Chidiebere Egwu had replaced Chief Ali Odefa as the Southeast Vice Chairman. In a statement issued in Abakaliki, state Chairman Mr. Onyemaechi Nwele and Secretary Ogbuefi Zacheus affirmed that Chief Odefa remains the legitimate National Vice Chairman for the Southeast.

The PDP dismissed the allegation as “ridiculous, laughable, and absurd,” condemning the false report suggesting Egwu’s appointment. The party emphasized that the state chapter had not authorized any such “criminal act” of unlawfully removing a national officer.

Egwu, who is currently facing trial in an Abakaliki State High Court for charges of impersonation and forgery related to this matter, was linked to the false claims. The PDP stressed that the state leadership had no constitutional authority to remove elected national officers and denounced the attempt to replace Odefa as a case of impersonation, orchestrated by disgruntled individuals seeking to destabilize the party in Ebonyi State.

“The claim of replacing Chief Ali Odefa is a creation of the same elements attempting to seize power through deceit,” the PDP stated. “Their actions have gone too far, and we denounce this manipulation as a criminal distortion of reality.”

The Ebonyi PDP reaffirmed Odefa’s commitment to advancing the party in the Southeast and warned that any members found fostering division would face disciplinary action in accordance with the party’s constitution. Party officials urged all members to disregard the false claim, calling it the work of troublemakers.
