Tinubu Unveils Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Complex (BATTIC) to Enhance Security and Business

President Bola Tinubu has hailed the commissioning of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC) as a testament to his administration’s commitment to driving impactful change in Nigeria. Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja at the unveiling of the centre, which was built by the Nigeria Immigration Service and named in his honor, President Tinubu emphasized the significance of the complex in enhancing the nation’s security and business environment.

“This is a fulfilment of our promise to implement excellent and innovative solutions across government sectors,” Tinubu stated, highlighting the complex’s role in improving Nigeria’s security architecture and transforming the ease of doing business. He stressed that the centre would also boost investor confidence in the country.

The BATTIC is a state-of-the-art facility comprising seven key components: a Data Centre, Command and Control Centre, Visa Approval Centre, ECOWAS Card Centre, Solar Farm, and Passport Centre.

The president underscored the importance of embracing technology, change, and knowledge-based innovation to drive national growth. “Nigeria, with over 200 million people, must lead Africa by embracing these advancements for the collective good,” Tinubu said. He expressed confidence that the integration of technology into the Nigeria Immigration Service would create significant economic opportunities, improving the ease of entry and exit for individuals.

Tinubu also praised the Ministry of Interior’s leadership, particularly for the transformation in passport issuance, and lauded the cooperation between various government agencies in bringing the project to fruition.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, expressed gratitude for the president’s visionary leadership, which enabled the timely completion of the project, initially launched under the current administration. He emphasized that the complex would save the government significant costs associated with archiving data.

Kemi Nandap, Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, described the complex as a groundbreaking achievement in Africa and thanked President Tinubu for his support in realizing the project, which had been in the planning stages for 18 years.

The commissioning of BATTIC marks a major step in modernizing Nigeria’s immigration infrastructure and is expected to accelerate national development by enhancing security and facilitating smoother business processes.
