The Kano State Government has begun implementing the newly approved ₦71,000 minimum wage for civil servants, with workers receiving their November salaries reflecting the new pay structure. This move fulfills a recent commitment made by the government to improve workers’ welfare. As per the state’s tradition, salaries were paid on the 25th of the month.
Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, the Head of Civil Service, expressed gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his swift action in approving and implementing the wage increase. Musa praised the governor’s dedication to workers’ welfare, saying, “Since the pronouncement of the salary increase, I remained confident that His Excellency would follow through with action.”
Musa urged civil servants to reciprocate the wage increase with dedication, efficiency, and hard work, highlighting the need to justify the increment through improved service delivery. He also advised workers to manage their additional income wisely and avoid extravagant spending.
In addition to the minimum wage, Musa announced that health workers’ allowances had also been activated, demonstrating a broader effort to enhance the welfare of public servants. The new wage policy has been met with widespread joy among workers, who expressed their satisfaction after receiving alerts reflecting the increase.
Aliyu Yusuf, the Director of Public Enlightenment in the Office of the Head of Civil Service, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare and urged civil servants to remain steadfast in their duties.
