Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has assured state employees that his administration is committed to implementing the newly approved N70,000 minimum wage. Speaking during the Teacher’s Day celebration, he addressed members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, affirming his government’s readiness to adopt the new wage structure.
Negotiations for the new minimum wage are scheduled to commence next week. The governor noted that although the current wage award has been extended by three months, the administration will transition to the new minimum wage as soon as negotiations are finalized.
Governor Makinde also highlighted the crucial role teachers play in nation-building and reiterated his dedication to enhancing their welfare in Oyo State.
