Sen.Orji Uzor Kalu Urges Tinubu to Reevaluate Economic Reforms Amidst Widespread Hardship

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the former Senate Whip, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider his economic reforms, citing the growing struggles faced by Nigerians. Speaking during a recent Senate session, Kalu highlighted the increasing hardship, including his personal financial strain in maintaining a private plane and the burden of paying salaries for 10,000 employees in his organization.

Kalu shared his experience from a tour of his senatorial district, where he witnessed severe hunger and hardship among his constituents. He expressed admiration for President Tinubu’s bold economic policies, which he believes are unprecedented, but called for swift actions to ease the suffering of citizens, including the potential return of subsidies.

“No president would want to see his people suffer,” Kalu remarked, urging Tinubu to consult with his economic team for urgent solutions. On a lighter note, Kalu congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC) on their recent victory in the Edo governorship election and reassured the public about his health, dismissing rumors of illness, saying he had been pursuing academic studies instead. Reflecting on the loss of prominent Igbo leaders, including Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Kalu expressed his sorrow, noting that death is in God’s hands.
