In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, nurses took to the streets to protest against the newly released verification certification guidelines by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
Marching to the headquarters of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives, the nurses voiced their discontent, labeling the guidelines as an infringement on their rights and an impediment to exploring better career prospects.
Assuring the protesting nurses, the Registrar of the Council, Faruk Abubakar, pledged prompt attention to their grievances.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria issued a circular on February 7, 2024, revising the guidelines for certificate verification for nurses and midwives.
Mandated by law, the Council regulates nursing and midwifery education and practice standards in Nigeria, adapting them to evolving healthcare demands.
