Governor Aiyedatiwa Names Adelami Deputy Governor

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has formally appointed Chief Olayide Owolabi Adelami, a 2020 APC governorship aspirant in the state, as the Deputy Governor.

Adelami’s nomination comes just six hours after the state governor dissolved the State Executive Council (SEC) on Wednesday. The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, stated in a release that the name of the new deputy governor has been forwarded to the state House of Assembly for approval. “His nomination will be announced by the House of Assembly later today,” the statement read.

Hailing from Owo, Ondo State, Chief Adelami brings over six decades of experience and an impressive educational background, holding degrees from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, and the University of Lagos. His extensive career in public service began in 1983 as an Accountant II in the Federal Civil Service. Notably, Adelami played a pivotal role in establishing the Finance and Accounts Department of the National Assembly, earning him key appointments, including leadership roles in Finance and Accounts and later pioneering the Department of Procurement and Supplies.

A noteworthy initiative by Chief Adelami is the establishment and continuous support for the Music Department at the School of the Blind in Gindiri, Plateau State, empowering visually impaired children with musical skills.
