Lagos Govt. Commence Demolition Of Markets Around Train Stations

The government of Lagos State has started demolishing markets around train stations.
Earlier, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had on Wednesday issued a two-day ultimatum to traders selling their wares on train tracks to vacate.
The Lateef Jakande Train Station was the first to be demolished as part of the Lagos State Building Control Agency’s ongoing demolition action on Saturday at 10:20 a.m.
The team then proceeded to five other stations to carry out the demolition exercise, clearing traders from the railroad tracks so that the trains could pass through with a clear path.
Iju Railway Station, Ebute-Metta Railway Station, Yaba Railway Station, Agege Railway Station, and Mushin Railway Station were among the other stations.
Enforcement officers were seen using sledgehammers and cutting tools to demolish extended walls close to the road, rip down shanties, and throwing goods from improvised shops and stores.
