CBN Extends Old Naira Deadline To Feb. 10

CBN

CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, yesterday announced the extension of old naira notes in a statement to February 10.

The deadline was initially scheduled for January 31 has now been shifted to February 10 as a result of the pleadings from citizens and the difficulty faced in the exchange of the old currency alongside the stress of saving the old notes in banks. Emefiele said the apex bank sought permission from President Burahi to extend the deadline for the use of the old notes by 10 days. He, therefore, called for the cooperation of all Nigerians in assuring a hitch-free process for the implementation of the policy.
