Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial Adjourned Till November 14

The trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the incarcerated leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been adjourned by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court.

Justice Nyako adjourned the pro-Biafra activist’s case to November 14, 2022, pending the Appeal Court’s decision.

According to reports received, Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team will appeal the High Court’s denial of his bail request.

The secessionist had earlier submitted a new application asking for his release on bail while the Federal Government’s treasonable felony allegation against him was being adjudicated.

However, when Kanu and his legal counsel showed up in front of the court on Tuesday for a hearing, the application was dismissed.

Kanu explicitly asked the court to overturn the ruling it delivered on March 28, 2019, which authorized FG to trial him in absentia and issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

The judge overseeing the case, Justice Binta Nyako, stated on Tuesday that she was not pleased with the reason the IPOB leader provided for why he did not show up for the continuation of his trial.
