Kyari also ordered the agency to publish two national dailies with a formal apology to him.
This was stated in a motion filed before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22.
In a motion filed by his lawyer, C. O. Ikena, the embattled cop also requests an “order restraining NDLEA, Police from unlawfully detaining or arresting him.”
“An order of this court directing the respondent to pay the sum of ₦500,000,000.00 (Five hundred million Naira) to the applicant, for unlawful violation of the applicant’s constitutional right provided for in Sections 35 and 36 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (As Amended).”
Kyari in the motion to enforce his fundamental rights requested that his arrest and detention by the NDLEA “without bringing him before a court of competent jurisdiction from February 12 till date is unlawful, illegal, and a gross violation of his fundamental rights.
This comes after Kyari filed a lawsuit against the federal government for his extended detention.
The suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police filed a lawsuit against the federal government at Abuja’s Federal High Court, FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22, alleging that his fundamental human rights had been violated.
