Buhari Appoints New Chief Economic Adviser

President Muhammadu Buhari approved Dr. Doyin Salami’s appointment as his Chief Economic Adviser on Tuesday.

Dr. Salami was the Chairman of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council, according to Naija News.

Salami earned his Ph.D. in economics from Queen Mary College, University of London, in 1989.

The 59-year-old is the Managing Director and Head Markets Practice at KAINOS Edge Consulting Limited, as well as an Adjunct Faculty member at Pan-Atlantic University’s Lagos Business School (LBS), where he recently was promoted to Senior Fellow/Associate Professor.

Buhari’s Chief Economic Adviser is anticipated to discuss all domestic economic concerns and offer his opinions to the President.

The Adviser will also be responsible for closely monitoring national and international developments and trends, as well as developing and recommending to the President national economic policies to foster macroeconomic stability, promote growth, create jobs, and eradicate poverty, among other things.
