The Central Bank of Nigeria slammed commercial banks throughout the country on Wednesday for failing to promote the e-Naira, which was introduced with fanfare by President Muhammadu Buhari in October 2021.
The apex bank also revealed to the public the operational benefits of the newly implemented eNaira.
CBN officials took turns lecturing youth corps members, hundreds of students from higher institutions throughout the state, and other members of the public on the eNaira program in Kaduna on Wednesday.
Aminu Muhammad, an assistant director in the CBN’s Development Finance Department, said financial institutions under the CBN’s supervision were meant to perform these essential responsibilities in strengthening our economy.
Muhammad, speaking at the CBN Fair in Kaduna and Kano at the same time, claimed commercial banks were ineffective in marketing the eNaira.
