The trial of Chidinma Ojukwu, a University of Lagos 300-level Mass Communication student accused of murdering Super TV Chief Executive Officer Michael Ataga, was halted on Monday due to the absence of a prosecution witness.
Y. A. Sule, the prosecution’s lawyer, requested an adjournment during Monday’s rescheduled hearing.
He said, “We are asking for an adjournment on the basis that the witness we are expecting just came in from Asaba and he is really not composed because of the journey.
“I sincerely apologize to the court for the inconvenience; the witness would be in court tomorrow (Tuesday).”
Onwuka Egbu, Chidinma’s lawyer, did not oppose the prosecution’s motion.
The case was subsequently adjourned till Tuesday (today) for the continuation of the trial by Justice Yetunde Adesanya.
Chidinma and another main defendant in the murder case, Adedapo Quadri, had pleaded not guilty to eight counts involving murder, forgery, and theft.
