2027: Oyo APC Refutes Consensus Ticket Claim for Alli

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has dismissed reports claiming that Senator Sharafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, has been chosen as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

Describing the reports as speculation, the party urged the public to disregard them.

The rumour had alleged that Alli was endorsed during a meeting at the Lagos residence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. However, an aide to the Minister of Power, Otunba Femi Awogboro, refuted the claim, stating that no such meeting took place and clarifying that the gathering was only a Sallah visit to the President.

Awogboro further maintained that Adelabu remains the strongest contender among aspirants seeking the party’s governorship ticket.

In an interview with newsmen, APC Publicity Secretary in Oyo State, Olawale Sadare, reaffirmed that the party has not selected any candidate and is currently focused on its Zonal Convention in Lagos and the forthcoming National Convention in Abuja.

“I’m not aware of any meeting where someone was picked as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State,” Sadare said. “When it’s time, the candidate of the party will definitely emerge among the aspirants. We don’t react to media speculations and mere rumours.”
