Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has boldly declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the only political party that exists in Ebonyi State, dismissing the relevance of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, and other opposition groups.
Speaking during a civic reception held in his honour at Okposi-Okwu, Ohaozara LGA, Umahi said, “There is no opposition party in Ebonyi. Only APC exists. If you are bold, come and contest against us.”
The event, organized to celebrate his contributions to national development, attracted top political figures including former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun.
Umahi used the platform to reaffirm his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, urging the South-East and Nigerians at large to rally behind the president’s administration. “We must support President Tinubu. The greatest honour is continuous support for the president and commitment to complete projects in the region,” he said.
Dedicating his recognition to Tinubu, Umahi credited the president with changing the political narrative of the South-East.
In his remarks, Governor Nwifuru said the region owes Tinubu a debt of gratitude, while Governor Abiodun hailed Umahi’s leadership and national impact, calling him a “transformer in governance.”
