Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the president’s trust and commendation as a divine affirmation of his service to the nation.
Speaking with journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, the former governor expressed profound gratitude for President Tinubu’s public commendation of his achievements in infrastructure development, calling it a reward worth more than one trillion dollars.
“I have told the president even publicly that my loyalty is to God first and then to him,” Umahi said. “When a man gives you the type of trust President Tinubu has given me, you will be of the devil to betray him.”
The minister emphasized that such trust is rare, noting that President Tinubu’s confidence in his leadership is evident in his hands-off approach to major procurement decisions.
“Have you seen where a man presided over the procurement of a project worth N1.6 trillion, and his boss did not call him to ask how he went about it? That’s trust,” he remarked. “Anyone who betrays that level of trust is invoking the wrath of God.”
Umahi pledged to continue dedicating his service to God, President Tinubu, and Nigerians. He noted that the president’s commendation serves as a motivator for him and all contractors involved in national infrastructure projects.
“This means that contractors will be on their toes to complete about 30 mega projects across the country, which the president will inaugurate by December 20,” he said.
The minister added that these projects, currently underway in all six geopolitical zones, are part of the administration’s broader effort to improve national infrastructure and drive economic growth.
“I am involved in the construction and inspection of these projects, and I dedicate the president’s commendation to all who pray for me to succeed in serving the people,” Umahi stated.
