U.S. Launches Fresh Strikes on Iran as Naval Operations Intensify in Strait of Hormuz

The United States has launched another round of military strikes against Iran, with U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) saying the operation is aimed at reducing Tehran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement released Tuesday, CENTCOM said American forces resumed offensive operations and reinstated a naval blockade targeting vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas beginning at 4 p.m. ET.

The military command said the latest strikes are part of ongoing efforts to safeguard maritime security along one of the world’s most strategically important shipping routes.

According to CENTCOM, more than 20 U.S. Navy warships and hundreds of military aircraft are currently deployed across the Middle East in support of the operation.

The command stressed that U.S. forces remain “vigilant, lethal, and ready” as tensions with Iran continue.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump indicated a shift in the administration’s economic approach to the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said he is abandoning plans to impose a 20% fee on cargo transiting the waterway, opting instead to pursue expanded trade and investment agreements with Gulf nations.

The move comes as Washington seeks to balance military pressure on Iran with broader economic and diplomatic engagement across the Gulf region.

The latest military operations underscore continuing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy corridor through which a significant share of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas shipments passes each day.
