U.S. Delivers Military Supplies to Boost Nigeria’s Security Operations

The United States has delivered critical military supplies to Nigerian security agencies to strengthen ongoing security operations across several parts of the country.

The development was disclosed on Tuesday by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter).

“U.S. forces delivered critical military supplies to our Nigerian partners in Abuja. This delivery supports Nigeria’s ongoing operations and emphasizes our shared security partnership,” AFRICOM stated.

The delivery comes amid renewed commitments by the United States government to deepen security cooperation with Nigeria, including enhanced intelligence sharing, defence equipment, and military articles aimed at strengthening operations against terrorists and violent extremist groups.

Last November, the Federal Government dispatched a high-level delegation to Washington, D.C., to reinforce security ties between both countries and explore new areas of collaboration.

The delegation was led by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and held engagements with senior officials from the U.S. Congress, White House Faith Office, State Department, National Security Council, and the Department of War.

Other members of the delegation included the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi; Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Undiandeye; Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and two representatives from the Office of the National Security Adviser.

The latest delivery underscores the growing defence collaboration between Nigeria and the United States as both countries intensify efforts to tackle security challenges and promote regional stability.
