President Donald Trump and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene entered a sharp and very public confrontation over the weekend, culminating in Trump withdrawing his political support for the Georgia congresswoman and signaling he may back a primary challenger.
The feud intensified after Greene harshly criticized Trump and his administration on multiple fronts — including their handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation — during an NBC News interview. She questioned whether Trump was sufficiently focused on domestic issues, saying, “No one cares about the foreign countries… the never-ending amount of foreign leaders coming to the White House every week.”
Trump fired back Saturday morning on social media, attacking Greene personally.
“Lightweight Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Brown (Green grass turns Brown when it begins to ROT!) betrayed the entire Republican Party when she turned Left,” Trump wrote, using a mocking nickname as he announced he would no longer support her.
Greene responded on X, saying she has received death threats amid the escalating feud and expressing shock that the president would target a member of his own party.
“As a Republican who overwhelmingly votes for President Trump’s bills and agenda, his aggression against me — which fuels the venomous nature of his radical internet trolls (many of whom are paid) — is completely shocking to everyone,” she wrote.
Trump, speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Friday, hinted at the break before making it official, saying Greene was becoming “a very different figure” and that he was no longer “a fan.”
The clash marks one of the most dramatic public rifts between Trump and a formerly loyal ally, signaling deepening fractures inside the GOP as the 2026 campaign cycle takes shape.
