Tragedy Strikes Plateau State With Over 70 Killed In Coordinated Attacks

Plateau State witnesses a somber Christmas as assailants reportedly take the lives of over seventy-six individuals in fresh attacks on communities within Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas.
Monday Kasa, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area, informed Channels Television that the coordinated assaults unfolded on Saturday, extending into Christmas Eve when residents were immersed in festive celebrations.
Kasa revealed that the casualty count is rising as security personnel, local vigilantes, and hunters continue their search through the bushes, discovering more bodies and seeking missing persons ambushed during the attacks. The assailants, responsible for the unprovoked attacks, set numerous houses ablaze, looted farm produce, and inflicted destruction on properties.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang expressed condemnation for the heinous acts, calling for swift action and heightened community vigilance.
In a statement by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, the governor directed security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators promptly and ensure they face the full force of the law.
Governor Mutfwang urged communities across the state to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to security operatives.
While the police force and the joint security task force Operation Safe Haven are yet to comment on the attacks, ongoing rescue operations are underway in the affected communities.
