Tinubu’s 2027 Victory in Rivers Assured – Fubara

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has pledged total commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC), assuring that President Bola Tinubu will secure an effortless victory in Rivers State during the 2027 general election.

Speaking on Friday at the flag-off of the Rivers Airport Bypass project, Fubara announced that he had formally registered as a member of the APC.
“Today, I am very happy. I am not just a member of the All Progressives Congress, I am the number one. I have collected my card and the form is 001,” he said.
“So, from this moment, I am there with all my chest and heart… We are going to do everything to make the 2027 election for Mr President a smooth ride in Rivers State.”

He said the “only way” the state could show gratitude to President Tinubu was through full political support, adding that the APC’s strength in the state would be driven by the backing of the people.

Fubara’s formal entry into the APC on December 9 followed the defection of 15 Rivers lawmakers including Speaker Martin Amaewhule from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.

But the political atmosphere in the state has once again become tense. Despite months of relative calm after an earlier crisis, fresh disagreements have resurfaced between the governor and the Rivers State House of Assembly.

On Thursday, lawmakers accused the governor of unapproved spending and awarding contracts to associates without legislative consent. The allegations came just a day after Fubara dismissed claims of a renewed rift with the assembly, describing reports that he had refused to engage lawmakers as “pure lies.”

He said he had made several attempts to meet with the assembly leadership since his reinstatement in September, but no date had been fixed.
Speaker Amaewhule countered this, insisting lawmakers met with the governor in September at the instance of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, and accused Fubara of failing to honour the agreements reached during that meeting.
