President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed the reinstatement of the school feeding programme to tackle the issues surrounding out-of-school children.
The program, which was suspended during Ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, has been restored by Tinubu as a measure to address the learning crisis.
Tinubu emphasized that tackling the learning crisis is crucial for addressing the challenges of children being out of school.
The directive to revive the school feeding program was revealed by the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, during a one-day retreat focused on quick wins in ministerial deliverables from 2023 to 2027.
As part of the directive, President Tinubu specified that the school feeding program should be transferred from the Ministry of Humanitarian to the Ministry of Education.
The minister highlighted that the retreat aimed to find effective ways to implement policies addressing challenges, with a focus on different agencies responsible for addressing the out-of-school children problem.
