Tinubu Replaces Edun with Oyedele in Cabinet Reshuffle

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has relieved Wale Edun of his position as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, appointing Taiwo Oyedele as his replacement.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The President also removed Ahmed Musa Dangiwa as Minister of Housing and Urban Development, naming Muttaqha Rabe Darma as minister-designate for the ministry.

According to a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, the changes are part of a minor cabinet reshuffle within the Federal Executive Council.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle in the membership of the Federal Executive Council,” the statement said, noting that both outgoing ministers are to complete handover processes on or before April 23, 2026.

Akume explained that the reshuffle is aimed at strengthening cohesion and synergy in governance, as well as improving delivery on the economy under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in effecting the changes.

President Tinubu thanked the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them well in their future endeavours, while assuring that efforts to reinvigorate governance would continue.

Oyedele, who previously served as Minister of State for Finance, will now assume full responsibility as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
