Tinubu Names Omidiran FCC Chair, Makes Key Appointments to HYREP, CLTC

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, a former member of the House of Representatives, as the new Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC). Omidiran succeeds Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, whose tenure was marked by controversy.

In a statement issued on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu also named Mohammed Musa as Secretary of the commission, while Kayode Oladele, a commissioner from Ogun State and former Acting Chairman, retains his seat.

The President renewed the tenures of Lawal Ya’u Roni (Jigawa), Abubakar Atiku Bunu (Kebbi), and Eludayo Eluyemi (Osun), while appointing several new commissioners from across the 36 states and the FCT. Notable appointees include Obina Oriaku (Abia), Bema Olvadi Madayi (Adamawa), Nnoli Nkechi Gloria (Anambra), Sir Tonye Okio (Bayelsa), Dr. Stella Odey Ekpo (Cross River), Chief Victor Sabor Edoror (Edo), Jerry Alagbaoso (Imo), Ruth Jumai Ango (Kaduna), and Bobboi Bala Kaigama (Taraba).

Tinubu also appointed Rinsola Abiola, a strategic communications and government relations expert, as Director-General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), alongside Nasir Bala Aminu Ja’oji as Senior Special Assistant on Citizenship and Leadership.

In a separate move, the President reconstituted the Governing Council and Board of Trustees of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYREP), naming Environment Minister Balarabe Lawal as Chairman of the Council. The board includes representatives from NGOs, Niger Delta communities, Ogoni stakeholders, and oil-producing states.

Emmanuel Nwiika Deeyah was reappointed as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, with members including Fred Mbombo Igwe, Dr. Fred Barivule Kpakol, Mrs. Dorcas Amos, and Chief Jide Damazio.
