Tinubu Mocks One-Party System Critics, Says APC Is Nigeria’s Choice

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dismissed criticisms that his administration is steering Nigeria towards a one-party system, saying Nigerians are simply choosing where they feel most secure and represented.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu responded to concerns by declaring, “It is only one party that is ruling.” He added, “You don’t blame people bailing out of a shrinking ship when they have no life jackets.”

Addressing political defections, the President stated, “For those still contemplating bailing out of their ship, the country is yours, hold on to it. But in a constitutional democracy, no one can be forced to stay where they don’t want.”

Tinubu emphasized APC’s resilience, saying, “They think this political party is a failure, but with your perseverance, we never gave up. We are the Progressives. We will soldier on.”

He also urged patience among party loyalists awaiting political appointments, assuring them of future rewards. “To those I cannot offer political positions, be patient, you will be happy to belong to this party,” he said.
