President Bola Tinubu has introduced the National Construction and Household Support Program aimed at boosting agricultural and manufacturing activities across Nigeria.
In a statement on Thursday, Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesperson, explained that the initiative is designed to strengthen the economy by creating opportunities in the real sectors of agriculture, manufacturing, and construction, as well as providing urgent economic relief for Nigerians.
Tinubu discussed the program during a national economic council (NEC) meeting attended by governors of the 36 states and several ministers.
One of the programme’s priorities is the Sokoto-Badagry Highway, which will connect Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos. Ngelale highlighted the significance of this project, noting its strategic importance for agricultural sustainability.
“The Sokoto-Badagry road project is specially prioritized for its importance as some of the states it will traverse are strategic to the agricultural sustainability of the nation,” Ngelale stated.
