Tinubu Endorses Amaju Pinnick’s Re-Election Bid to FIFA Executive Council

President Bola Tinubu has endorsed Amaju Pinnick, the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), for re-election to the FIFA executive council.
This endorsement was announced in a statement by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale on Tuesday.
Pinnick was first elected to the FIFA Council in March 2021 during the 43rd CAF ordinary general assembly in Rabat, Morocco, defeating Malawi’s Walter Nyamilandu. The FIFA executive council, the principal decision-making body of the federation between FIFA Congress meetings, comprises 37 members elected for a renewable four-year term.
Pinnick served as the NFF president from 2014 to 2022 before being succeeded by Ibrahim Gusau. He is the third Nigerian to be elected to the FIFA council, following Oyo Orok Oyo and Amos Adamu.
The 2024 FIFA Council election is scheduled to take place during the 46th CAF ordinary general assembly in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, on October 10.
