President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering dedication to infrastructure development as a foundation for Nigeria’s economic growth, industrialization, and job creation.
Speaking in Lagos on Thursday during the commissioning of multiple strategic road projects, the President underscored the transformational role of transport infrastructure in enhancing mobility and boosting economic competitiveness.
“This is more than laying concrete, steel, and asphalt. These roads represent critical investments in mobility, employment, and the long-term economic viability of our country,” Tinubu said.
Among the commissioned projects were the reinforced concrete access road to the Lekki Deep Sea Port, the Kano–Kongolam Road (Section II: Kano–Kanwar–Danja–Hadejia), the Yakasai–Zalli Road, and several other key corridors across Northern Nigeria—all aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and supporting industrial expansion.
President Tinubu praised the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for his proactive approach in rescoping and executing road infrastructure nationwide.
“David Umahi is a thinker and a great doer,” Tinubu remarked. “We are truly ready to reengineer our finances toward infrastructure development, the backbone of any nation’s prosperity and industrial future.”
In a light-hearted jab at critics questioning the cost or need for the projects, Tinubu quipped, “If they don’t like the road or if it is too expensive, it is too late for them—but they could go to Idumota.”
The President also flagged off several new road projects, reinforcing the importance of infrastructure under his Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes economic integration, regional development, and sustainable national growth.
Tinubu’s administration continues to prioritize critical infrastructure as a key pillar in lifting Nigeria’s economy and improving the lives of its citizens.
