President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Jami’u Abiola as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Linguistics and Foreign Matters, with the role taking effect from November 14, 2024.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, announced the appointment on Wednesday in Abuja through a statement signed by Mr. Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations.
“This appointment aligns with the provisions of the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc.) Act 2008, as amended,” the statement affirmed.
Jami’u Abiola, previously Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice President, will now collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has been tasked with leveraging his expertise to enhance Nigeria’s linguistic and diplomatic efforts.
Abiola is the son of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, and the late Kudirat Abiola, a renowned activist assassinated while advocating for her husband’s mandate.
The appointment highlights President Tinubu’s commitment to engaging seasoned professionals to address key foreign and linguistic challenges.
