35 persons who were kidnapped three weeks ago in Kaduna State’s Chinkun Local Government Area’s Keke B community near Millennium City have been released after N2.5m has been paid as ransom.
Uwasu Yunusa, the community leader of the Joint Task Force (JTF), reportedly disclosed this to reporters in Kaduna State on Saturday.
Before their release, N2.5 million in ransom was paid, according to Yunusa, who also claimed that the bandits were holding one captive. He claimed that unless they have two motorcycles, the bandits will release the other captives.
The JTF leader, however, claimed that the victims were released on Friday night and were welcomed by residents of the community.
He said: “The 35 persons who were kidnapped three weeks ago at Keke B Millennium City in Chinkun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have regained their freedom.”
“They came back to Keke B community on Friday evening and were received by hundreds of people.”
“One person is still in captivity because the bandits said his family must give them 2 motorbikes.”
“N2.5 million was paid as ransom before they were released. The kidnapped Doctor and 15 others including women and children from Sabon Gero community also regained their freedom.”
