Taraba Central Condemns Marginalization In Ministerial Appointments

Since the advent of democracy in 1999, the Taraba Central Zone Youth Coalition for Peace, Justice, and Social Development has voiced opposition to the ongoing marginalization of the Taraba Central Senatorial Zone by succeeding governments in the nomination of ministers from the state.
Alhaji Bakari Dorofi, the group’s leader, told reporters yesterday in Abuja that of the 11 ministers from Taraba who have been appointed so far since 1999, seven are from the southern zone, four are from the northern zone, and none have come from the central zone.
“This trend smacks of gross injustice. The central zone remains the political nerve-centre of the APC in Taraba State and has consistently delivered to the party,” he said.
This is because a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Babangida Nguroje, has been recommended by the Kenaf and Other Natural Fibre Plants Producers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria for consideration as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Nguroje is a native of the state’s Taraba Central Senatorial District.
The recommendation was made in a letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that was signed by Hassan Abubakar, national president of the association, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday.
