Super Falcons Goalkeeper Nnadozie Suspended From WAFCON 2022 Opening Match

The Super Falcons will be without their starting goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie since she was suspended after picking up multiple yellow cards during the qualifying series.

Due to her exclusion, Israel-based Tochukwu Oluehi will likely start in net for the Falcons tonight against the Banyana Banyana.

Particularly in the reverse match in the final qualifiers against Ivory Coast in Abidjan, Nnadozie was essential in helping the Falcons qualify for their 12th tournament.

The Falcons advanced to Morocco thanks to Nnadozie’s outstanding save on a penalty at the Stade Robert Champroux.

In the return match, the Elephants had a chance to get back into the game after defender Ashleigh Plumptre was found to have tripped an Ivoirian striker in the Nigerian area. The referee pointed to the penalty spot. The Falcons had won the first leg 2-0 in Abuja.

The penalty was saved by Nnadozie, and the rebound from that player went into the side netting.

Esther Okoronkwo’s goal in the 87th minute effectively won qualifying for the Ivoirians with a 3-0 aggregate victory after the Ivoirians mounted a late attack on the Falcons but were stopped by a resolute Nigerian defense.
