Sunday Igboho Regains Freedom After Two Years House Arrest In Benin

After being held under house arrest and released from detention in the Benin Republic after two years, embattled Yoruba nation activist Sunday Igboho regains freedom.
After being released on Sunday, the Yoruba nation activist left for Germany to reunite with his family.
Prof. Banji Akintoye, the group’s leader representing the Yoruba nation, confirmed the development.
Igboho said that he is free to return to Nigeria or travel to any other country of his choosing in an interview with the Nigerian Tribune because he has fulfilled with all legal requirements for his bail.
“I am now free to return to Nigeria and visit any country in the world. I have fulfilled all the legal conditions attached to my bail few years back and I am coming home to Nigeria, my country of origin, any moment from now.
“I can confirm to you that I am now free to come back to Nigeria. There is no legal encumbrance again. Even though I have been living in Cotonou for some time, I can confirm to you categorically that I have now secured the liberty to leave Cotonou for Nigeria.”
In a video released on Facebook, Igboho thanked all those who had supported him during his travail and detention in Benin and specifically pointed out the likes of Professor Banji Akintoye, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Olugbon of Orile Igbon and deputy chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas, Oba Francis Olushola Alao, Kabiesi Oba Topspin o ni Bariga of Bariga, Oba Tejuoso, Oni Kenta of Orile Kenta, Olugbo of Ugbo kingdom, Oba Fredrick Akinruntan Obateru, and other Yoruba monarchs for their support while he stayed in Cotonou.
