The NYPD will revoke former President Donald Trump’s gun permit following his conviction on 34 felony counts in Manhattan last week, sources say.
Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon is a federal crime.
Trump’s gun permit was initially suspended after his criminal indictment last year by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.
On May 30, a jury convicted Trump of 34 counts of falsifying business records related to an alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Trump has claimed he did nothing illegal and plans to appeal the decision.
Sentencing is scheduled for July.
Sources said it is unclear when the NYPD will officially revoke Trump’s gun permit.
Despite the revocation, Trump will continue to have Secret Service protection.
Trump has also been indicted twice by Special Counsel Jack Smith on federal charges related to alleged interference in the 2020 election and retaining classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
Additionally, Trump faces state charges in Fulton County, Georgia, over alleged interference in the 2020 election.
The former president has pleaded not guilty to all charges and denies any wrongdoing.
