Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan Demands Urgent Action Over Kwara Killings

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has condemned the recent killings in parts of Kwara State, warning that the continued loss of innocent lives has become intolerable and calling for immediate, concrete action from the authorities.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the senator expressed deep sorrow over the attacks and extended condolences to families and communities affected by the violence, describing the situation as a direct test of the government’s responsibility to protect its citizens.

“The continued killing of innocent Nigerians is unacceptable,” she said. “Families are being torn apart by violence that should never be allowed to persist. Protecting lives and delivering justice must not be optional.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan urged both the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government to act decisively, stressing that security assurances must be matched with visible and effective results on the ground. She said prompt and credible investigations into the attacks are crucial to restoring public confidence and deterring further violence.

“Those responsible must be found and held accountable,” she said. “Failure to do so only reinforces a culture of impunity and leaves communities exposed.”

The senator noted that security agencies and political leaders have a constitutional and moral obligation to prevent further bloodshed. She called for intelligence-driven operations, stronger collaboration with local communities, and policies that address the underlying causes of insecurity.

“These killings are a painful reminder that our security framework must work for the people,” she said. “No Nigerian should live in fear in their own home.”

Her remarks come amid growing concern over persistent violence in several parts of the country, with citizens increasingly questioning the effectiveness of existing security responses.

Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to pursuing legislative measures aimed at strengthening national security, insisting that Nigeria cannot achieve meaningful progress while the safety of its people remains uncertain.
