Sen. Akpabio Calls for Unity to Tackle Nigeria’s Economic and Security Challenges

Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday urged senators to unite in addressing Nigeria’s critical economic and security issues as the Senate resumed from its two-month recess. During his welcome address, Akpabio emphasized the vital role of the Legislature, highlighting that it serves as the “first ray of hope” for Nigerians, while the Judiciary acts as the final refuge.

Akpabio stressed the need for decisive action to address the country’s pressing problems, especially inflation and the rising cost of living. He noted that despite challenges, progress had been made in sectors like agriculture and infrastructure under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He also underscored the importance of improving national security, urging lawmakers to strengthen laws to protect citizens.

Akpabio called on senators to collaborate with the Executive branch to ensure that democracy delivers tangible benefits to the people, advocating for policies that foster economic stability, security, and social justice. He concluded by encouraging transparency, accountability, and continued engagement with constituents, reminding lawmakers of their duty to uplift Nigerian citizens.
