Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State revealed plans to introduce a flexible workweek for state employees during a media chat with journalists in Lagos on Thursday.
The proposed arrangement entails civil servants from levels 1 to 14 working from their offices for three days a week, while those on levels 15 to 17 will be required to report four times a week.
This tailored approach aims to enhance productivity and job satisfaction among public sector workers in Nigeria’s commercial hub.
The initiative underscores the Lagos State Government’s commitment to adopting innovative work practices that accommodate the diverse needs of its workforce.
By reducing the number of mandatory office days, the government anticipates benefits such as reduced traffic congestion, lower commuting costs, and a more conducive work environment.
The Governor said, “From next week, we are working out a plan where civil servants from level 1 to 14 will come to the office maximum three times in a week.
“Not that all forms of government will be shut down. It will be calendarised and scheduled. Those on level 15 to 17 will miss work for one day.”
