Samuel Ogazi secured a spot in the men’s 400m final at the 2024 Olympic Games on Tuesday night. Ogazi finished third in Heat 3 of the semi-finals, clocking a personal best of 44.41 seconds.
The race was won by Great Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith, who posted a time of 44.07 seconds, while Michael Norman finished second with a time of 44.26 seconds.
Ogazi’s achievement marks a historic moment as he becomes the first Nigerian athlete in 36 years to qualify for the men’s 400m final. The last Nigerian to reach this milestone was Innocent Egbunike. The final event is scheduled for Thursday.
