Senior lawyer Ebun Adegboruwa, SAN, has called on President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly to provide Nigerians with a detailed account of the stewardship of retired Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, who served as sole administrator of Rivers State during the six-month emergency rule.
Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday, Adegboruwa emphasized that Rivers, as one of Nigeria’s wealthiest states, commands substantial resources, making accountability non-negotiable.
“Based on Section 305, those who exercised oversight functions during the emergency period the President, the Federal Executive Council, and the National Assembly should render a report to Nigerians,” he said.
The lawyer raised questions about how Ibas managed state resources, asking: “What is his report? What did he do with the resources? What is the state of the handover? Those matters should become transparent to guide us.”
He further insisted that Nigerians deserve to know from both the President and the National Assembly, who supervised the administrator, how much Rivers State received during the emergency period and how the funds were utilized.
