Rep. Nancy Mace Forces House Vote on Impeachment of Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle

South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace has initiated a motion to force a full House vote on the impeachment of United States Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, accusing her of high crimes and misdemeanors.

Mace filed the privileged impeachment resolution on the House floor late Monday at 8:26 p.m. ET.

“Director Cheatle has been derelict in her duty to well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office to which she holds,” Mace declared on the floor. She also cited Cheatle’s testimony from the Monday morning Oversight Committee hearing, where the director admitted that the events of July 13, 2024, represented the most significant operational failure of the Secret Service in decades.

This action by Mace compels the House to consider the measure within two legislative days.

The House is scheduled to remain in session until midday Thursday.
