President Tinubu Heads to Riyadh for Arab-Islamic Summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, today to attend the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit, scheduled to start on Monday, November 11, 2024. According to a statement released by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Saturday, the summit will focus on the Middle East’s ongoing crises, with particular emphasis on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

President Tinubu, invited by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is expected to advocate for an immediate ceasefire and renewed efforts toward a peaceful two-state solution. He will urge all parties to prioritize diplomacy as the path to long-term stability in the region.

Accompanying Tinubu are top Nigerian officials, including Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Information Minister Alhaji Mohammed Idris, and National Intelligence Agency Director General Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed. The delegation is set to return to Abuja upon the summit’s conclusion.
