Premier League:Liverpool Defeats Newcastle  2-1

To earn a vital three points in the English Premier League, Liverpool rallied strongly to a goal from Newcastle in the first half.
On Wednesday night at Anfield, Newcastle took the lead over Liverpool after scoring a goal 38 minutes into the game to unnerve the Reds.

However, Liverpool pulled through to tie and then win the match, boosting manager Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Alexander Isak, a new £60 million striker, scored Newcastle’s goal just before halftime. However, Roberto Firmino of Liverpool gave the Reds new life at Anfield by tying the score with his third goal of the year.

Fabio Carvalho’s additional effort earned the home team all three points with a goal in the 98th minute as Liverpool was about to suffer its second league loss.

The English Premier League match ended 2-1 in favour of Liverpool and Klopp was grateful after all.

The German manager named youngster, Harvey Elliott as ‘the best player on the pitch during the dramatic victory.

Naija News understands that the referee added 5 minutes of stoppage time but waited until the 99th, after Liverpool had gotten the win, to end the game.

The development had generated a barrage of reactions on and off social media.

Reacting to the win, Klopp said: “This is the best way to win a football game. I think that we scored after 90+8 is the perfect response. I’m really happy about that.”

Giving his remark on Elliott and Carvalho, Klopp added: “Harvey was the best player on the pitch, without a shadow of a doubt. It was nice to see him pick up from where he was before the bad injury.

“Fabio, what a boy. What a player. I am pretty sure he will want to have that feeling more often and I am pretty sure if he keeps working, he will have it more.”
