In response to the tragic killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, the Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of 13 suspects implicated in the heinous crime.
Police Force Spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi provided updates during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today program, highlighting the ongoing efforts to apprehend all perpetrators involved in the senseless act.
Adejobi expressed confidence in the progress of the investigation, noting that the arrested suspects have been cooperating with law enforcement authorities, providing valuable information to aid in the apprehension of additional suspects.
“Now, we have 13 suspects arrested so far in connection with that incident. And we are sure we are going to get more of these suspects,”he said.
“We are working with them (suspects) and they are giving us reliable and useful information.
“We are sure and optimistic that we are going to get all of them apprehended and bring them to book,” he said.
To bolster security measures in Ekiti State and address escalating concerns of violence, Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has deployed an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) to the South-Western state.
The tragic deaths of the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsola, have sent shockwaves throughout the community, prompting urgent action from law enforcement agencies. The monarchs were ambushed and killed while returning from a meeting in Irele-Ekiti.
Adejobi also said the police have deployed, helicopter surveillance and armoured personnel carriers to Ekiti State.
Furthermore, the police have pledged to prioritize the rescue of kidnapped pupils and teachers in the Eporo-Ekiti area, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to safeguarding the lives and well-being of all citizens.
As investigations continue and security operations intensify, the authorities remain resolute in their pursuit of justice and maintaining law and order in Ekiti State.
