Plateau Governor Vows to Resist Land Grabs, Support Attack Victims

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on Saturday visited communities in Bokkos Local Government Area recently hit by deadly attacks, pledging support for victims and a renewed commitment to protecting lives and property.

The governor toured Hurti, Josho, Daffo, and other affected areas in Manguna District, condemning the violence as a deliberate effort to displace residents and impoverish them by crippling farming activities.

“These happenings are not just about killings. They are meant to scare you off your land and keep you poor. But we will resist it,” Mutfwang declared.

He expressed condolences to bereaved families and assured displaced residents that his administration would brief President Bola Tinubu on the situation to prevent future attacks. He also promised improvements in basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity, clean water, and mobile connectivity.

Governor Mutfwang urged youths to remain united, reject criminality, and continue defending their communities peacefully. He praised their resilience and pledged government assistance in rebuilding destroyed homes.

Commending President Tinubu’s support, Mutfwang noted, “The president has shown genuine concern for Plateau. His goal is not to colonize our people but to unite and protect them.”

The District Head of Manguna, Mr. Raymond Alo, appreciated the governor’s visit and the relief materials provided, while appealing for building supplies to help residents reconstruct their homes.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the April 2 attacks left more than 40 people dead, 383 houses razed, and over 1,000 residents displaced.
