PDP Vows to Oust APC in 2027, Blames Ruling Party for Governance Failures

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared its intention to push the All Progressives Congress (APC) into “political oblivion” in the 2027 elections. In a statement released on Monday, PDP spokesperson Debo Ologunagba accused the APC of manipulating data, politicizing issues, and launching personal attacks on outspoken Nigerians.

The PDP’s remarks follow criticism from Felix Morka, APC’s national spokesperson, who accused Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of “reckless executive flippancy” and blamed the PDP for its internal conflicts, calling the party’s inability to resolve them “disgraceful.”

Morka’s comments came after Governor Makinde called on PDP members to unite and resist “external forces” obstructing a strong opposition ahead of the 2027 elections. In response, Ologunagba accused the APC of deceiving Nigerians with “false performance claims” while failing to deliver effective governance. He defended Makinde as a credible leader, highlighting his accomplishments in Oyo State and his dedication to democracy.

Ologunagba went on to list the APC’s shortcomings, including increasing insecurity, economic hardship, widespread hunger, and high unemployment, all of which he attributed to the ruling party’s “anti-people policies.” He added that while ordinary citizens suffer, corrupt APC leaders are enriching themselves by looting the nation’s treasury.

As the 2027 elections draw near, Ologunagba warned that the APC will likely resort to data manipulation and personal attacks to maintain its hold on power. However, he stressed that the party cannot escape its failures, pointing out that PDP governors are delivering on their mandates with significant infrastructural and human capital development.

He concluded by urging the APC to accept responsibility for its governance failures, predicting that Nigerians and the PDP will consign the ruling party to “political oblivion” in the next election.
