PDP Scribe Anyanwu Petitions INEC, DSS, Police Over Forged Signature

National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu, has petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force over the alleged forgery and cloning of his signature on an official party document.

In three separate letters dated October 15, 2025, Anyanwu raised alarm over a forged letter purportedly sent to INEC regarding the PDP’s forthcoming 2025 elective national convention.

According to him, the document referenced PDP/DOM/GF.2/Vol.1M/25-140 and dated August 25, 2025 was circulated to the electoral commission without his knowledge or authorisation.

“Regrettably, the quoted letter was never signed, authorised or known to me. It is shocking to have a forged or cloned version of my signature on the letter,” he stated.

Describing the act as “criminal,” Anyanwu urged the heads of INEC, DSS, and the Police to launch a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are prosecuted.

“I therefore request that this criminal conduct by officers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their collaborators within INEC be investigated and the culprits prosecuted,” he added.

Copies of the petitions, acknowledged by the three agencies between October 15 and 16, reportedly contained excerpts of the alleged forged document as evidence.

Anyanwu said his action was intended to safeguard the integrity of the PDP and prevent the use of falsified documents in official correspondence with national institutions.

His petitions come amid heightened internal tensions within the PDP ahead of its planned national convention.

Earlier in March, the Supreme Court nullified the judgment that had removed Anyanwu from office, reaffirming him as the party’s national secretary. Following the ruling, PDP National Chairman Umar Damagum directed him to resume duties, describing the decision to recognise him as a “difficult but necessary resolution.”

Anyanwu, a close ally of Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), remains a central figure in the party’s ongoing internal power struggles.
