PDP Governors Back Fubara’s Control of Rivers Party Structure Amid Wike Rift

Governors under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed support for Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s leadership and control of the party’s structure in the state.

Bala Mohammed, Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, announced the endorsement during a meeting with Fubara, who had visited to offer condolences on the passing of Mohammed’s stepmother.

Commending Fubara’s leadership, Mohammed stated, “We have no qualms against anybody,” while urging loyal party members to respect the realities in their respective domains to maintain unity within the party as a strong opposition platform.

He emphasized that Fubara’s control of the PDP structure in Rivers aligns with democratic ideals and the balance of power. “All the governors are with you,” Mohammed added.

In response, Fubara, who also serves as the Vice-Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, thanked Mohammed and his colleagues for their unwavering support and solidarity.

Fubara has been locked in a political tussle with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over the party’s control in Rivers State. Last week, the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) reaffirmed its recognition of the Hon. Nname Robinson Ewor-led Rivers State Executive, which is aligned with Fubara.
