PDP Crisis: Ebenezer Babatope Warned Wike, G5 Not To Arrogate Power

Ebenezer Babatope

Ebenezer Babatope, a former Minister of Transportation and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the aggrieved governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) popularly called the G-5, not to arrogate powers to themselves, or else they will regret it.

In a report by POLITICS NIGERIA the G5 or the Integrity Group, the members of the G5 include Governor Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia). The five governors have demanded the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu as a precondition to support the presidential ambition of Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 elections.

“We have tried our best to placate them (G5). At this stage, if they want to go, good luck to them. If they want to remain in PDP, the better for all of us,” Babatope told Daily Independent in a recent interview. “Governor Wike and his allies must not arrogate powers that they don’t have to themselves. If they do so, they will make mistakes and may regret it.

“We all love Wike for his courage but when you arrogate powers to yourself, then you may lose the support of the people.”
